1886 loading gate trouble?

Post by Coloradoyaler »

Hello

I need some help! When I shoot my 86 and I want to add more shells when there is already shells in the magazine tube the loading gate won't open. I can simulate this by putting shells in the tube and give it a sharp rap with my hand and it is the same way. You can't push the loading gate open. It does not do it all the time! But still often enough to be a problem! Any suggestion or opinions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks
Mark

There should be a small "ramp" on the back side of the gate that pushes the rearmost round forward enough to get the next round into the magazine. It may have a burr on it, and need a careful polish. Put one round in the mag and look at how the gate pushes it ahead, then it will become apparent. The 2 brownings I have work slick as can be, far easier than 94's. The 86 was designed to be very easy to load, according to period advertisments.
"Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs even though checkered by failure, than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much because they live in the gray twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat." -Theodore Roosevelt-

Isnt it amazing how many people post without reading the thread?
