OT-.32-20 Handi-Rifle?
I like these little things and started browsing the H&R/Marlin website looking at different caliber barrels. I noticed there were no .32-20 barrels listed.
What would be a good cailber barrel to get and have rechambered to .32-20? It's a synthetic stocked (until I change it out for wood ) SB2 IIRC.
Thanks!

The easiest think to do might be to have a stub barrel built for it. Or just go for a .30-30.

Well you might contact them and see if they would make such a barrel. Another choice I would suggest is get one in .357 magum. I have one and it does shoot very well. Brass is tough and long lasting and bullets offer quite a selection. Just a thought. ATB

IIRC they specifically state that they will not do custom chamberings however I would think that a decent gunsmith could fabricate one without much trouble.

A .357 and .44 might be in the future for it...
If I can figure out the barrel situation for the .32-20 it would save me from rechambering one of my Cadets (not mint, don't panic Cadet fans ). In fact I might sell one of the two to fund it.

Re: OT-.32-20 Handi-Rifle?
I hear ya I think a 32-20 Handi would be perfect but I dont see it happening. Maybe if enough of us got a hold of them they may see the light and do it. Or may be they could do it in 32 H&R Mag then we could just rechamber.
I think my next BBL will be .357 then I could ream it out to a Max.

Cost among other things.shawn_c992001 wrote:Stupid Question.....Why not get a T/C G2 in 32-20?
I already have a Contender pistol but I don't know the date other than it's a pre-G2. My understanding from the Contender gurus is there are several variations of the rifle stocks and they don't interchange so I don't know exactly which one I'd need and it would have to come from a show or the internet since AFAIK T/C doesn't make anything to fit the older ones. Then I'd have to but the barrel.
I figure for less than $100 I can have a barrel fitted at H&R and then have it rechambered for less than I could turn my T/C into a rifle or get into the G2 series.
Besides, I already have the Handi-Rifle and I am planning on getting a couple of more barrels for it anyway.
Unless I'm missing something...

Re: OT-.32-20 Handi-Rifle?
There are gunsmiths out there that do what they refer to as "stub jobs" on H&R barrels. One such smith is http://www.chasemountaincustom.com/ I don't know this smith I only saw some of his posts on rimfirecentral and got mildly interested. IIRC one of the best barrels to start with for a stub job is a 20 ga shotgun barrel. If you read on his website and/or forum he describes just what is done. He basically threads the inside of the 20 ga barrel and threads the other barrel into it. I'm sure it's easier said than done.

Re: OT-.32-20 Handi-Rifle?
I think you'll find it far cheaper to get a .32-20 barrel for your T/C than it will be to have one fabricated for your H&R. Surely there are aftermarket buttstocks and barrels available for any vintage of Contender, it shouldn't have to be a G2. There are no H&R factory barrels that can be rechambered so it will have to be turned from a blank.awp101 wrote:I already have a Contender pistol...I figure for less than $100 I can have a barrel fitted at H&R and then have it rechambered for less than I could turn my T/C into a rifle or get into the G2 series.shawn_c992001 wrote:Stupid Question.....Why not get a T/C G2 in 32-20?

If you want a barrel for a Contender or Encore - EABCO http://www.eabco.com/tcref.html makes anything you want, and my Encore barrel (.280) is really nice.
