2 good movies.Rough Riders and Legends of the Fall

Post by RIHMFIRE »

In 1898 the US government led by Theodore Roosevelt (Tom Berenger) back when he was still a young ambitious Naval Secretary intervenes on the side of the Cuban rebels in their struggle against Spanish rule. Always ready for action Roosevelt leaves the confines of the sidelines and forms a volunteer cavalry regiment which later became infamously known as the "Rough Riders." Roosevelt's regiment brings together volunteers from all corners of the nation to fight against a far superior adversary in one of the most rousing victories in American history.

This movie is quite dramatic....tear jerker for the wives..for sure...
Three brother's, their love for each other, their father, and for one woman is the main focus of the story. Tristan is the middle son, his father's favorite, he is as wild as the Montana country where they live in the early 1900's. It is he who we follow on a journey of darkness, enlightenment and finally self-discovery.It is an epic story, that follows the lives of the Ludlow family for many years, through WWI,passion, secrets, tragedies, and bonds between brothers and father

And yes both these movies have levers

That's for sure.

I just saw Legends of the fall just a few months ago. Pretty good, don't know how I missed it. Liked the ending.

It was reported that US Gen. Joe Wheeler, an old but still spry ex-Confederate Cavalry Corp Commander, upon seeing his US troops attack the Spanish forces exclaimed "We've got those D@$# Yankees on the run now!". No one knows whether he was joking or if he was having a flashback to 40 years previous. Some of those men that he led were black Buffalo Soldiers/Cavalrymen. The irony of an ex CSA Cavalry Commander leading his black soldiers against the Spanish, and then being among the few in the high command to praise the action of these troops, is just too cool. I've gotta get that movie and check it out.

By the time they got to the end of "Legends of the Fall", I was rooting for the bear.
