What I did on the first day of my vacation.

Post by Mustang 22 »

On the first day of my summer vacation I went to one fo my favorite gun shops, just sort of killing time with my kid. He was looking for a set of grips for his kimber TLE. While that was going on one of the fellas working there asked if there was anything he could show me. I'm just foolin around so I said sure you got a NIB 1886? He just looked at me an said "I believe I do". He then proceded to pull out a brand new 1886 EL that they were selling on consignment from an estate, Still in it's box. Ruined my whole day. I really never expected him to have one, you don't see them every day. Well I left there almost a grand down, but I got one very nice rifle, an I been wanting one of these for a long time. I will post again after I take it to the range.

If you don't ask you won't know. I think it is congratulations that are in order.

Mustang, I ain't going to feel sorry for you one doggone bit! You got yourself one sweet rifle! I had one of those once and it rates with me as one of the nicest modern leverguns available. With that rifle, I once bagged two Whitetail does at 185 yards, offhand with its factory open iron sights. It is a fine, strong, straight-shooting rifle and congratulations are in order.

Philosophy on life: If you don't ask, they CANNOT say yes. I've been pleased on more occasions than not to have an affirmative answer to many questions. Best one was when my then girlfriend became my fiance... (I know she'll enjoy reading that :) ). Oh yea, several .30-30s have come into my possession from just such an exchange. Congrats.
