This is a family movie, set in the year 1919 - Montana wilderness, with a good story about lessons learned by the youngest member (supposed to be 17 years) of a summer forest ranger. Sam Elliott plays a great role as usual, and a young Jerry O'Connell is entertaining as he meets the tests, while learning the importance of honor, trust, and integrity and minding his elders advise.....learning the hard way....good family movie
one thing, pics show sam with a stach....he doesn't have one in the movie
no shootem ups....
Got that one in the collection. I just picked up another of his the other day, "You Know My Name," its about the end days of Bill Tilghman. Pretty good movie, I thought.
I agree, this is a really a good family movie with the right message. It's by the author of "A River Runs Through It", Norman Maclean, and is about his own experiences.

I bought it a couple of years ago when I saw it on the check out stand at the local grocery store. I found out by accident that it was written by Maclean. It made me look at A River Runs through it differently as well.
