About the Fading 41 Magnum...My Combo
Since the subject was brought up, I thought I'd present my combo. Both recent pick-ups. The Marlin is showing some promise with IMR 4227 & Remington 200 JHP's. The Skinner sights helped tighten the groups. The Blackhawk is playing hard to get still with any of my reloads. It shoots factory jacketed OK though. I started using gloves when shooting it. The checkered hard rubber grips are tough on my hands with full power loads. Chris

Nice combo!
Try 7.0 gr of 231 under a 215 gr LSWC for a light load in your revolver.
Several of us at my local club have had outstanding success with this
load.
Speer's 210 gr Gold Dot over 18.5gr of 2400 works well as a hotter load.
I haven't yet tested the same bullet over H110, although I have a test
box loaded. The bullet seems to hold together well when shot into
wet clay.
Paco swears by Blue Dot as a 41 Mag powder. I'll have to try it sometime.

Parkers , Mannlicher Schoenauer’s , 6.5mm's and my family in the Philippines !

In my 1894FG I used the Nosler 210 grain bullet and 21 grains of H110 . Used this load a couple years ago to take three Virginia whitetails !
Also have a box of Hornady 210 grain XTP's I really need to run down the pipe on this one !

Re: About the Fading 41 Magnum...My Combo
I never considered the .41 as obsolete or old fashioned. I have the S&W stainless, and bought a Davidsons 41 mag that is the "Hunter" model that replicates the .44 Hunter. Don't believe Ruger offered that Hunter in 41 in their catalog. I don't recall how many of them Davidsons ran off, but it has the gray finished laminated grips with 7 1/2" barrel, beautiful revolver I think. I got the next to the last one they had. Now I will have to bear down and get the Marlin FG soon, thanks for your pictures, nice combo you have indeed.

I had good results with Unique an a 210 LSWCGCs from Cast performance in the S&W Mountain gun and FG that I had. I have regretted selling them off. That FG was a tack driver.

Re: About the Fading 41 Magnum...My Combo
To tell the truth, I've only shot the Hunter a few times off the back porch. It has the heavy square rib on top of the barrel, the cut outs for scope mounts, unfluted cylinder, and is finished and polished very nicely. It seems extra special to me being a .41 over the standard .44. I think I paid around 475 for it about 2 years ago. I bought a lot of 41 ammo, so now that I retired from a regular job I'll shoot a lot more and use this gun. But I would take a .44 if that's all I could find, I really like the feel and heft of the piece.

I've installed Hogue rubber grips on my Ruger BH 41 mag & 45 colt/45acp fits my large hands better and dampens the recoil,a friend also installed Hogue rubber grips on his 4 5/8" barreled Ruger BH in cal 45 colt,he shoots Buffalo Bore 45 colt +P 300gr Speer JFP(1325fps/ME 1170) this is his backup load for elk, etc.CBinNH wrote:Since the subject was brought up, I thought I'd present my combo.
