My Father in Law (update)
its been awhile since i posted anything. my father in law is loseing his fight with cancer. he has had it two times before but this time it attacked the brain. in march they gave him 9 months to a year. in june they said maybe 2--3 months. i talked with my wife today and they wouldnt be surprised if he didnt make it thru the week. he has stopped eating and is very seldom awake. he is at haome with my wife and her sisters care. the hospice nurse told them his vitals are doing well but he is tired and ready to pass. my mother in law passed back in 2001 and for the last couple of yrs my father in law has traveld with a group of church members (Community of Christ) repairing churchs and church campgrounds. they traveled coast to coast doing this work. all cost except materials (and sometimes even that) were provided by these men and woman. they had no compensation except for the feeling of a job well done and the witnessing of their faith. a couple of yrs ago he and the group were here in the st. louis area at a campground. my wife and i went to visit him and took our then 4 yr old grand daughter. he played and chased her around the rec area ( he is 6' 8" and was 72 at the time) and they both had a grand time. i pray that his passing will be smooth and my wifes siblings and family strong. please keep them in your prayers.
my Father in Law passed this morning (July, 7, 08) at 3 am.

Re: My Father in Law
Is there anything better, than the fact that a man can leave some evidence behind at his passing, that he was a giver? Your wifes dad has given a lot to people in an unselfish way as you have told here. And for him to have you speak up about him in such a nice way as you have, it sounds like you were more of a "son" than a son-in-law. Thanks for sharing these things, and hope that old fellow passes in a peaceful and painless way.
To hell with them fellas, buzzards gotta eat same as the worms.

Re: My Father in Law
Prayers for all of your family. Sounds like he was a really nice guy. Hopefully he'll pass in his sleep and won't suffer a long drawn out time of pain and suffering.

Prayers offered. Sounds as if he was the kind of soul that will be with our Lord eternally.

Prayers sent. Best wishes to you and yours. Sounds like a man that anyone would be a better person for having met him.
