Jim had a great night last night.

He can stand to pee again (very important for guys like us.)

He should start physical therapy next week.

Hope and pray Jim had another good night. Bet it feels odd to him that he didn't send a Sunday message this morning. I so look forward to that wisdom, which always puts me in touch with "my better angel."

Scott, I am glad that your Dad is feeling better.
One of the good things about this site is that so many can support each other even without having met in person.

Now to get Jim healed. Prayers continue for all.

I called Jim

He is in great spirits.

He is in hospital rehab now. They gave him a cognitive test today and he passed. They wanted him to walk 100 feet today and he walked 600 feet.

He has been on the phone with some of our old friends, Gary Reeder, Jim Wilson and others.

He doesn’t remember much about the accident or the first few days in ICU. But he’s talking about making repairs to the go-cart for the grandkids. His daughters have forbidden him from using it again.

He wanted me to tell you all how much he appreciates your prayers and asked that you keep them coming.

Great news. Of course prayers are continuing. But I suspect unless his daughter watches him 24/7 he'll have to get back on that horse, at least once.

I would bet that his memory missing a couple of days is simply doing that to heal and hide some trauma. Cognitive tests can be fun. After a major stroke, I was given one. As part of it, they asked me to name as many animals as I could. I started with Wildebeest, Hartebeest, Bongo, Nyala, Coati Mundi, Pika, and the two Psychiatrists pulled out their phones and started googling. One of them asked why I had named those animals. I said that dog and cat would be too easy. I still need to use a cane for balance on occasion. After all the tests, I was told that I would be allowed to continue driving.
I still do not remember a bit of the time surrounding when that stroke occurred.

Thanks for the update Scott. Great news... I also haven't had the pleasure of meeting him, but did have the good fortune to speak with him seeking his advice (excellent) to deal with a family issue. And, yes, meeting & hopefully do some shooting with him is something I'd look forward to.

I hope Jim continues to heal up 100%. A few years ago at 70 I fell off of a ladder on My right shoulder, the fourth time in My life I hurt that one. I ended up going to see a specialist who was around early 40's. He looked Me over, looked at the x-rays and knew I had a rough & tumble life.He started to laugh and patted Me on the back "the good news is that You messed this up so bad before now this time it's not so bad". You will be fine in a few weeks. .

Jim and I joked about it as when we got busted up as younger men we would be told to rub a little dirt in the wounds and get back up in the saddle.

Of course, those spills were nothing like what Jim is going through now.

But don’t worry. Jim’s plenty tough.

The only bad thing is that I won’t be able to share time with him in Raton this year.
