Getting Logged Out Every Time I Leave The Site

Even though I check the box to star logged in.
It's always something.
I'd kick in a bit if it would help update reliability. I think most would.

Same here. It happens every time I can't get on this site for a day or two. Then when it starts working well again I have to log back in as it seems whatever changed logged me out also. I keep a book of passwords, so have to dig it out to see what my password was again.

For the last 10-12 days I experienced the following:

-- Needed to type in my name and password to log on. Often times I had to do this twice.
-- Even though logged in, I needed to again login when the General Discussion page loaded.
-- Will not keep me logged in.
-- Often times, computer screen said "service not available".
-- Also attempted logging late at night--11:30 -12:20 AM west coast time. Experienced the same problems, but more often than not because "service unavailable" message.

I hardly ever 'stay' logged-in despite checking the box. I was told at one time that it was the settings on my computer though, not a website-specific thing. (However, it ONLY happens with this site)

Not a huge deal, but like Blaine said - I'd be up for a contribution towards more reliability if that would help.

It's my only 'social media' outlet...

Clear your internet history. It gets rid of all your cookies. You will likely have to log into all of you frequently visited site, but if you click the "stay logged in" button it should be fine after that. If that doesn't work, there is another trick I can't quite remember right this second, but as soon as the coffee kicks in and I remember I'll post it.

I got the 503 message all weekend long. I've been on forums for more than two decades and have never, ever experienced this kind of consistent, days-long forum failure. I don't know what to say. I know we all appreciate this place. At least I sure do.

Blaine -- i was thinking about this too the other day --- To the point i went back to Singleactions.com just to b-s about guns (20 posts since 2009 ! == Huzzah !!)

When i look at most of the people who post on this site -- a lot of us have been on her 10+ years -- not enough new blood and i dont know how to market a internet forum to get more eyes but if there was a need fo a few bucks to help out with the bandwidth -- im guessing a lot of us "old heads" would figure out how to scrounge up a few nickels

heck - im unemployed now and i just bought an A-Team Mini 14 --- sheesh - at the end of the day we make room in the budget for whats important


A homeless junkie with a $150 a day toot or Big H habit is gonna figure it out

As promised here is the other thing to do.
Go to The "User Control Panel". You get there by clicking on the little person on the top right of the screen.
Once in the User Control Panel click on "Profile".
When you are on the Profile page click on "Manage Remember Me Log In Keys"
The delete all of the keys that show up. Relax, unlike deleting you internet history, which can effect other site log ins, this only deletes the log in memory for this site. Once you have deleted the keys you will have to log in, but it should take care of the problem.

I've noticed that after updates to the site software, or sometimes glitches, some of the Remember Me keys get corrupted. Like you internet history, (you really should have that set to be deleted after you shutdown the program) you really should delete these "keys" regularly. Deleting you internet history, while it will cause you to need to log into sites again, actually speeds up the browser.
