New Winchester 95 tang safety delete

Post by yooper2 »

Good morning all,

There is a newer production 95 in 30-06 languishing in our local shop. Overall very nice and marked for a reasonable price (that I'm sure I could get a bit lower). It has the tang safety and rebounding hammer. While some folks can live with them, I'm not one.

I've gotten rid of the rebounding hammer on a 94 by swapping the trigger group out but am totally unfamiliar with the internals of the 95. Is it the same situation? Would I need to find original parts? Getting rid of the tang safety is no big deal and I can make a nice plug. Thanks for any thoughts,

Eric

Myself, I'd just buy a like new Browning 1895.
No safety.
Less money.

Mine seems so unobtrusive that I don’t even pay attention to it.

I know a lot of folks are happy with the tang safety but I'm a half cock sort of guy, all of my other leverguns are set up so and it would just bug me.
If it's a thing requiring parts I won't go for it, but it's just some work that's no big deal. I'm trying to get the shop to let me take it apart to see how the it's set up and if it's possible to do what I want with it.
