Finally got it sorted out.

Post by wvfarrier »

Several years ago I bought a Mossberg 930 JM Pro. The thing simply would not run, eventually it returned to the mother ship who declared it "within specs".... apparently failures to eject, failures to feed, and stove pipe jams are "normal".

I gave up on it for several years and then came across OR3gun and their tuning kits. The kit cost about $185 with shipping and included an adjustible recoil spring plug, heat shield, mag spring follower and an extended bolt release.

Install was very simple and I used setting #2 on the recoil plug (it has 4 settings). It appears all problems are gone, I ran a huge assortment of bird shot, 00/000 buckshot and some rifled slugs. Everything worked perfectly, so much so that its now my home defense gun.....10 rounds of 12g will solve most issues.

The most accurate buckshot was the federal flight control and the most accurate slug was the Freedom Munitions Xtreme.

Nothing is as frustrating as a firearm that won't function reliably--especially one that costs as much as the 930. Those Oregon boys seem to have done their homework. Glad yours runs now.

Figured out we're talking about a shotgun... lever, pump, auto... pictures help. Too lazy to google. But, like Bill said, glad you got it to run. Sure it wasn't a Rossi? :P

I am wondering why a Mossberg would not work right. I have shot a few Mossberg pump shotguns, and each one was perfect in action and reliability.

Apparently the 930s are historically defective which I was not aware of
