Ammo for the S&W No. 2 Army

Post by Bill in Oregon »

I was reading an interesting thread on these little five-shot rimfire revolvers and their use in the Civil War.

I got to wondering about ammunition, and here is a link to reloading supplies. It would be swell to put some rounds through one of these historic little Smiths.

Dixie used to sell cases that were set up to use a 22 acorn blank. There are also a couple guys on YouTube that show how to make them. I followed the directions from a guy called "Steve B's Workshop" to make some 32 RF Longs for a friend's rolling block. Quite time consuming but they should last a long time and the winters are long up here.

I have two revolvers in .32 rimfire but with our draconian gun laws I could find myself in jail if I tried to make ammo even though I have seen those kits in the UK... :(
