Re: USPS follies, YET AGAIN!
Par for the course . My package from Georgia coming to Alabama went to Aurora Colorado , then Denver Colorado , then Memphis Tennessee , then somewhere in North east Georgia , then Birmingham Alabama , Then Nashville Tennessee , then finally to Huntsville Alabama where it sat for four days before making the trip to Hillsboro Alabama to be delivered that day. No wonder they are (Supposedly) on the verge of going broke. This was not an isolated incident by the way , happens with my stuff pretty regularly.

Re: USPS follies, YET AGAIN!
This is beginning to be more common than mail getting delivered correctly used to be! The last few packages I've sent or had sent to me all went sideways and to either the wrong direction, or bounced around one state to several USPS facilities before they finally headed towards me. My last package was the Hubalek scope I bought from a seller in May, Tx. and it went to 3 cities in Texas, then past me to Seattle before finally landing here. A 4 day estimated time took 12 days to get here. USPS is worthless and getting worse.
They can't continue to waste fuel and time on deliveries and keep the lights on.

Yes, I'm in the same boat, but I think what happened in my case is the local delivery carrier put my package in someone else's box and it was routed back to the main sorting center and now from the tracking it appears to be on the way back to me.

This has to be by design, something to do with gaming their statistics probably. To what end, who knows.
It's not just USPS though, I ordered some parts from Wilson a couple weeks ago and according to the tracking UPS drove them to Illinois from Arkansas before heading to Arizona.

A bit of insider info:
If you are going to recycle a box,
Make sure all the previous shipping labels are removed.
Ive seen packages floated back and forth for weeks, depending on which label was scanned at each stop.

Yep, I am tracking a new Smith and Wesson 357 mountain gun, right now, shipped a week ago from Florida. It too 4 days just to make it out of the Eastern time zone. But it looks like I will finally get it tomorrow, if it can just make it the last 20 miles to my dealer.

No doubt that's a contributing factor.

Re: USPS follies, YET AGAIN!
Did a .30-40 Krag for .303 British brass trade with a guy in Arkansas recently. His .303 British brass arrived here a day ahead of schedule! Shocking! But the .30-40 I sent was estimated to arrive there yesterday, and still just shows "in transit" with no updates as to where it is since it left here. It was supposed to get there yesterday. He also sent me a check for the difference in the trade, and it left a day earlier than the brass and still hasn't shown up. How can a box arrive faster than a letter?

Good luck!
I have a new rear sight for my Blackhawk on the way from Fermin Garza in Corpus Christi. I hope to gosh Dallas doesn't forward this one to Massachusetts, too.

Do not underestimate the ability of that magnet run sorter in Dallas to make a mess of things.Bill in Oregon wrote: ↑Tue Mar 10, 2026 6:35 pm Good luck!

Re: USPS follies, YET AGAIN!
I'll add my 2.5 experiences.
1)Sent a USPS certified letter (payment) from Hamilton Georgia to IRS in Atlanta Ga (94 miles) late last year. Took 51 days to make the transit.
2) Local humane society (1.7 miles and two intersections by car) send a thank you note for donation. Initially went to Atlanta (typical) for sorting and postmark - then got postmarked in Honolulu, Hawaii before returning for delivery.
3) Was trying to send payment for GunBroker purchase to seller in TX this week. For a variety of reasons, (see #1) I didn't want to send the check USPS so I took an envelope containing the check to UPS where attendant placed it in a UPS polypak. Receipt gives a UPS tracking url different from the normal UPS tracking site. Also states to use the "Shipment ID" (not the tracking number) for 'documents'. Can't track the shipment on the new url using either the tracking number or the 'Shipment ID' number. Tried normal UPS tracking - doesn't recognize either. Finally noticed that the shipment information states "USPS Ground Advantage". So I tried the tracking number on the USPS (not the UPS!) site and bingo - my UPS 'document' has been assigned to USPS for delivery. Delivery is supposed to happen in two days - - -

Have you seen the new USPS commercial?
It states their new processing centers have increased their efficiency by 46% over the past 5 years... If it's increased by that and they are still so bad at it we are doomed.
