What causes my browser to shift right and stay there?

Post by marlinman93 »

So this morning I'm checking emails, and looking at my favorite forums. One is a car forum and I saw mention of a glass shop I'd had issues with. I clicked on the link and it was reviews I think were Google generated? Suddenly a bunch of spam advertisements began popping up and opening numerous different windows. I kept hitting the x to close them, and then suddenly my display shifted right where I couldn't hit the x to close windows. I instead closed down my internet to stop it, but when I reopened it the display stayed shifted to the right to cutoff about 1/4th of the screen!
I tried every fix I could and nothing worked. Only way I could get a decent display was to use another browser, and it wasn't affected at all. After numerous fixes didn't fix it, I uninstalled my Duckduckgo browser and reinstalled it. That ended the issue, but of course also locked me out of anyplace I go until I sat down and got my login book out and renewed passwords everywhere. Some didn't work, and had to reset them with a new password to make them work.
This stuff really boggles my mind, and I have no idea why or how it happens?

If your browser has UBlock Origin available as an extension go ahead and install it. I've been using it for years, no pop-ups or ads.

.
It looks like somebody already gave you an intelligent answer.

All I was going to be able to say was something smart Alec like “ you’ve probably been watching too many Rush Limbaugh programs”.

And I was going to say quit smackin' it on the left side of the screen.
