I think I got swindled

Post by TedH »

I was pretty pleased with my recent purchase of the little Kel-Tec P32. I won an auction on Gunbroker that I thought everyone but me forgot about, because I only paid $147 for the gun that the seller stated only had 1 box of ammo shot through it. After shipping and tax I was still in it under 2 Benjamins.
I had fired it exactly 66 rounds and suddenly notice a hole worn in the side of the slide. Yes, a hole. Right where the rails ride. I had never seen anything like this before.
I hoped Kel-Tec would extend their warranty to me even though I bought it pre owned, it was practically new.
When I called and reported the defect along with the serial number, the gentleman informed me that the gun was actually over 20 years old. 😳
But he did say they would work it over and get it up to snuff with their lifetime warranty. It is currently in transit back to Kel-Tec.

Kel Tec is enough of a stand up company that they will make this better

In the future -- i would say --- that $147 would be better off putting towards just buying a Glock 42, 43, 26 or whatever -- (bought a 42 not long ago - the 380 model -- $300 --- not a stoppage over 200 rounds - the slide looks intact as well )

I do have that size of carry gun covered. With the P32 I was wanting the smallest, and lightest gun possible for certain situations where that may be all I could conceal.

At that price, you could throw it at a target!

I wouldn't fret it much, I've spent more than that on a set of grips. In fact, being a fan of Maximum Farm Engineering I may have just dressed the hole with a Swiss file and pressed on.

With a belt clip and a laserguard sight, it will ride in the top of a boot quite comfortably and can hit accurately.

Without a laser sight it is probably most effective as a noisemaker.

I like 'em.

Put the belt clip they make on it, you can carry that thing in board shorts at Lake of the Ozarks. Definitely better than a harsh word or two!

That's odd for sure. I wonder what caused that?

I would definitely go back to the seller on GB and if he doesn't address this, flame him. Seems like he (or she) misrepresented the gun's age, at the very least.

I bought a PF9 used many years ago (and it did not look new). After I got it, I learned that Kel Tec had updated the magazine catch on these pistols after mine was made. I contacted them and asked if they would update my pistol.
They sent me a shipping label that day and said they would gladly do it. I got my pistol back in less than 2 weeks, and the only thing remaining of what I sent was the slide and barrel. Everything, including the frame, had been replaced free of charge.
"Oh bother", said Pooh, as he chambered another round.

I have not needed for Kel Tec to work on anything. It is nice to know that they do honor their warranty.
