Reading the Handloader article today about the .41 mag the author, Patrick Meitin referred to the Henry Big Boy Steel rifle as being based on the BT Henry 1860 rifle.

I saw that too, obviously some 'editor' doesn't have a clue.
However, it's good data!

Doesn’t the data make you feel a little nervous when you see such a glaring error?

I know that my Henry 41 does darn near exactly the same velocities with Lilgun and a 210 jacketed so I feel good about that data anyhow.
I really don't think editors proof read for content, just push it through the spell check and send it to print.

I think editors do more than just hit the spell check button. As much as I enjoy Tank Hoover's writing for instance, I have seen several of his articles in which his word usage and spelling were horrible. Since reading those, his editors most certainly have intervened and paid closer attention to polishing up his stories.
Elmer Keith had a terrible reputation for turning in articles that required major overhauls. He was reportedly a one finger typist who corrected his boo boos by typing over the accidental letters and then typing the letter he wanted either above or below his misprint. While editing stories has almost certainly changed since Elmer's days, it still must take some effort.

Agree about Tank, I enjoy the things he writes about but getting through an article isn't usually smooth sailing.
It was said that Elmer would include a line of commas and periods at the bottom of his submissions, to be placed where needed by the editor.

Good one, Samsi....that's funny.
Attached is a letter from Elmer Keith to an acquaintance in 1968. I suspect this one isn't as bad as some of the things he submitted.
