The stars finally aligned allowing me to be in the right spot at the right time this afternoon.
I got in my ground blind about 130. Fairly warm and a read a few chapters of a Tom Clancy book while waiting for the deer to get to feed.
About 4 it was beginning to cool down and a couple fawns came out. Then another fawn and 2 big doe.
I watched them mill around and a big doe went back to where she came out of the autumn olive thicket. Next thing she is busting out and took off, she went about 50 yards and stopped, looking back.
Sure enough I see antlers coming.
Im shooting a Knight rolling block 50 cal muzzle loader, 2 50gr 777 pellets and tipped 250gr xtp/sabot.
The buck started sniffing or eating as I eased my smoke pole onto my lap, up and out through the window.
Hammer back and he is facing me...take a step... he turned and gave me broadside about 60 yards as I snicked off the safety.
the hammer dropped, his front end alignment went helter skelter and he pushed himself about 30 yards and down for the count.
I intentionally held forward shoulder to break up his ability to get back into that dreadful autumn olive thicket. My shot was spot on!
Those tipped xtps are like a fmj, hardly any expansion even with all the bone I broke.
Best part was a 60yd drag downhill to the farm driveway!
I dont have a scale but I guess about 150 dressed. 17" inside and 4 points on each side.

Congrats! What's not to like about that and a sixty yard drag makes it better.
