Good deal on 44 magnum ammo

Post by Bob Hatfield »

SG Ammo has Winchester 240 gr. Soft point ammo for $299 shipped for 500 rounds. That's 29.99 for a box.

Thanks for the heads-up. My favorite deer cartridge. Not a bad price for these times.

Actually, if you look at 22 LR ammo, it is actually not much different than in the 1970's, taking inflation into account. I never bought 44 Mag back then (reloaded it all) but 60 cents a round is probably pretty decent. Beats the $6.75 per round I paid last year for some 375 Ruger...!

One other place to check ammo prices is https://ammoseek.com/.

Current 44 Mag prices they show are no better than yours from SGAmmo right now though - https://ammoseek.com/ammo/44-magnum

They do list some 32-20 now, which is amazing (you hardly ever see that locally...!) - https://ammoseek.com/ammo/32-20-winchester
...and even 25-35 :o https://ammoseek.com/ammo/25-35-winchester.

Sometimes they list weird stuff though - looking for 25-20 pulls up real 25-20, but also some 223 that is "223 ammo 500 rounds - 25-20 count boxes" So you have to double-check things a bit...

They have been very helpful when I've been looking to buy ammo that isn't 'mainstream' - most of the stores around here just have 9mm, 223, 308, 40, and of course 22 LR and 12 gauge. RARELY you'll see 357 Mag or 38 Spl, and even more rare in our stores locally would be 44 Mag.
