Leverguns Down / Nov 1 - 4 BACK UP NOW

Post by ANDYLARSSON »

Hello Everyone,

AmBraCol let me know Sunday night that the forum was down. My apologies. I wasn't aware. It's taken me a couple days to get to it but we (if you are reading this it's obvious) are back up and running.

Nothing Nefarious. The North Koreans didn't hack us, Russia had not invaded, there was no Zuckerbug censorship... A security certificate had glitched or not renewed. I was able to get it restored this afternoon.

We are good to go. If there is ever an outage again, feel free to reach out to me at andy@skinnersights.com

I'm committed to keeping this the great place it is. Would love to see it grow and the wealth of knowledge contained in our members be used to raise up more great levergunners.

Something we have been field testing: Marlin 10mm 1894 Trapper.

These come from Marlin with Skinner Sights installed. (pretty happy about that, don't rain on my parade)

WHYYYYY a 10mm??? Pretty simple... Ever try to stuff a 41 mag in a Model 21 Glock? Sure, there are great performers in the 357/41/44/45 cartridges. But this fills a marketable "niche" for a companion carbine to the 10mm Handguns that are all the rage right now. Ask your local gunshop how much 10mm ammo they sell... Its significant.

My grandson Enoch harvested the first big game animal with the new chambering in the Ruger/Marlin. During the youth season in Montana, he took a mountain whitetail with it. Croaked it very handily at just under 100 yards.

BUT WHYYYYYY didn't they do a (pick one, 375 Win, 35 Rem, 327 Federal, 360 Doe Dropper, 6.5/45-70, etc)

This is novel, handy, popular, ammo available, light recoil, low noise, very profitable decision by Ruger.

The others will come (most of them) in time. Meanwhile, I'm packing this one in the woods looking for my deer of the year. Night before last I had a 3X3 (we cant count high in Montana and its cold so we don't want to remove a shoe) in the sights. He would have eaten well, so would his older brother or father. I'm still looking for them.

Shameless plug for Skinner Sights here. COME VISIT US AT www.skinnersights.com

We have lots of new stuff and more being brought out almost weekly. Today's new offering is a peep for the Winchester Model 70 MAGNUM size actions with the .330" hole spacing on the rear bridge. My son Dan finished the fixtures and programming for them, should have em on the website in the next couple days. We had quite a few backorders for them. I used to make them as "one off's" and now we can put them into regular production. Pretty slick.

Thank you all for your patience.

Please let me know how I can be more help.

Andy

Thanks Andy, Google kept telling me that I was probably misspelling something.

FWIW I didn't suspect Zuck, Chi-Coms or the Russians, but I do wonder about that Hadron Collider thing causing various messes.

Andy, I like your goal of getting some 'growth' in the old site. And it hurts to say this, but as 'quirky' as this old site runs these days we are gonna' slowly loose our old regulars and sure as heck never keep any new folks. Too danged slow and frustrating....

I was relieved to just now open the site and find it worked! It kept giving me notices like the site didn't even exist anymore for days!
Thanks for getting things back up and running again!

There's plenty of 45/70's out there to choose from , and those other cartridges dont move the needle at all with younger buyers, but the 10mm is compelling . A rollout of a 375 or 35 would be met with great fanfare by 7 people
