I was able to get to the range about ten days ago to do some tweaks to my sights and try some longer distance shooting just to see what I could get.
Anyways, I was able to shoot out to two hundred yards with my handloads, and was very happy with the results.
160 gr. Hornady FTX, with one grain less than max of Leverevolution powder, Starline brass, and #200 CCI primers.
Averaging right around 2355 fps.
Where I hunt I probably won’t have any chance to shoot that far, and most likely wouldn’t if I did, but it’s nice to know that I could, with the energy at two hundred yards being approximately 1260 ft/lbs, within ethical ranges.
Bottom shot was with the bead even with the top of the target, and the top two shots were with the bead resting on top of the target.
Rifle season opens here tomorrow

Henry Long Ranger in 223 got it done today.
200-ish yards, DRT.
75 grain Speer Gold Dot
Retained weight exactly 54 grains after breaking a rib and exiting thru the spine (she was uphill on a logging road).
Doe was massive at, easily, 200 pounds.
Really happy with the results.

Well done, now to remember where you tied the buck up.
