Even my double rifle shoots better than the Ruger/Marlin.

You certainly can shoot but again I only mentioned scoping the Marlin just for testing purposes.
I gotta say, that double sure looks like a fun pig gun!

A 412 grain cst bullet at 1350fps should be enough for anything on this continent.

Enjoy iron sights while you can! Most eventually need a scope as their eyes go bad.
I still shoot iron sights at 75, but it's not as easy as it was even a decade ago.
Pre WWI Marlins and Singleshot rifles!

I was never big on short barrel carbines, in my experience adjustable sighted big bore handguns will typically do about 80-90 of the same work in practiced hands.
