Good video Doc. Has me wishing I'd picked up a 454 carbine when they first came out. It also hit a sore spot; I sold my Bowen Nimrod with Fishpaw Dall ram grips because I couldn't shoot it well. Should have held onto it.

I've not shot big game with either, but if something with claws and fangs were headed my way, I'd prefer the 10mm over 45 ACP for sure. Hardcast in a 45 Colt would be fine too.

.45 Colt Keith SWC @ 850 + or - and the .44 Special Keith SWC at the same will do about anything that needs done.

Thinking about it further, it would be interesting to see what a hard-cast lead with as flat a meplat as would feed in a 1911 (or Redhawk 45 ACP/Colt) would do at around 900 FPS. 900-1200 FPS seems to be ideal for penetrating predators, but the cross-sectional density surely has to be a factor too, and the 'long' Colt cartridge will push a much heavier bullet 900 FSP than an ACP cartridge would.

I mostly shoot FMJ 'practice loads' in the ACP, but Golden Sabres for CCW with the ACP, and the FMJ's kinda do just go straight through target backing and soft wood and so on (some look like they could be swaged and re-used), so maybe they would do more than we think. Somehow the 'wide meplat' does seem to be a thing though, as reflected in the Taylor Knock Out formula. Certainly I've seen a difference meplat causes on small game with 22 LR's that are round-nose versus 'wadcuttered' by swaging them with Paco's Acu'rzr tool. Seems to make more difference than hollow-pointing does.
