Well Rustyjack on rimfire central figured out my problem or at least part of it. Apparently some wise guy years back drilled or dremmeled some out of the bottom of my carrier. Possibly thinking of fitting longer 22 WMR MAG . I bought the rifle several years ago on gunbroker and got rooked.

I now need to check chamber as it may be too deep. Im hoping they didnt touch it as WMR is still too long for carrier.

It's possible original carrier broke and someone poorly modified a short or long to WRF and went too deep.

I can make a filler button to go in bottom that should solve problem . I did straighten then carrier as it was also bent on top.
