Someone else posted about this Doc. Apparently TC used GMB for their guns the whole time, will continue to do so.

Thompson Center used to outsource some barrels to Green Mountain for capacity reasons, but they had their own barrel production equipment in Rochester.
When S&W bought T/C, they were primarily interested in the rifle barrel capacity. S&W closed T/C's Rochester factory years ago and moved all the equipment to Springfield.
S&W has been making their rifle barrels with the T/C rifling process for years now.

When S&W sold T/C, they sold the brand and intellectual property, not the barrel making equipment. Thus the new T/C needed barrel making capability again and went to Green Mountain whom they had a prior relationship with from back in the Rochester days. They must have liked them so much they bought the company.
