Good lookin old gal. Always wanted to play with one of those. I sorta fell on the Win side of the fence with the 63, but like em all.

Re: Browning Patent Remington 24
It cleaned up well! What are your thoughts on the missing chip of wood? Scab a piece in or replacement of the whole stock?
BROWN LABS MATTER !!
Re: Browning Patent Remington 24
Ill first glue the crack Tgen I'll mill the chipped area out and grain match a piece and glue it in .Then shape it plus stain blend to existing finish.
Re: Browning Patent Remington 24
We had one in the family a good long time, a Gallery Model with threaded muzzle and chambered specifically for 22 Shorts. It was very accurate and certain death on squirrels with Short HP.
People were smarter before the Internet, or imbeciles were harder to notice.
Re: Browning Patent Remington 24
I've never handled one until this one .So Im very anxious to get this one finished and on the shooting range.

.Can't wait for the Range report.

Re: Browning Patent Remington 24
Got the extractor from Wisners, far as I know it fits as designed? No diagrams or parts assemblies I could compare to.

Re: Browning Patent Remington 24
There was a .014 gap at top half of stock , those uneven pressure probably caused the breaks/crackd. Set up and adjusted the angle took a skim cut now it fits flush with back of frame.

It's abundantly clear that sweet old Model 24 found the loving home it deserved.

Re: Browning Patent Remington 24
I absolutely love finding these on classics in need of some TLC and bringing them back. This is a fun shooter , Ill pick up more SV ammo see what it will do .

Re: Browning Patent Remington 24
The bore is shiney but has a few pitted areas. I believe it will be a fine shooter. I always examine fired cases and the five shot had a deep dent/ drag mark at 4 o'clock.Got a good look and right side extractor cut at chamber was dented up into chamber mouth. Used the chamber swage and stoned the cut good to go now.

After changing the rear angle at front of stock it now fits tight against frame .So no stress on the mortise area.

The stock requires a special spanner socket which I made from 11mm socket was perfect.
