looked at a win 94 SRC the other day. on the bottom of the receiver in front of the lever were the letters FCH in pretty bold stamping. i thought i had either seen or read about this marking before but can't remember where. tried to google with no luck. ring a bell with any of you folks?

I'm no expert on them, but I've never heard of any stampings on the underside of a reciver other than the serial number. May be it's the previous owners initials or some agency stamping.
...and I don't think he even knows it...Walks around with a half-assed grin...If he feels fear, he don't show it. Just rides into hell and back again.

IIRC, Winchester used an "X" or "A" on reworked guns for awhile. The BATF uses an alpha/numeric ID when a serial # beomes unreadable or you ask to have yours remarked.
