What Day is today?

Post by stretch »

It's the first Monday that I didn't have to get up and go back to work.

EVAH!!!

I'm officially retired, and looking forward to spending a lot more time
at the shooting club and on my motorbikes. :D

Congratulations! That's awesome.
I'm kind of semi-retired, and just 2 years left to go. Can't wait.

Congrats! I almost finished with 18 years of being a "Gentleman at Leisure" after 41+ yrs in the defense industry. To celebrate my transition to a new "career" we left the next morning driving to Canada and we haven't stopped traveling since. All 50 states (most multiple times) and 83 countries and still going strong. My point is that now that you have the time to do what you want, don't hesitate to do it as the future isn't guaranteed to anyone.

I've already screwed the date up twice this week and am leaving on a trip tomorrow.

So I think I'm on the right track!

Thanks for all of the good wishes!

It was May 1st for me... CONGRATS!!

You'll no longer dread Sunday evenings -- and Monday mornings are "liberating" (my wife's word for it, as she retired the same day).

Cheers!!!

Congrats. Now just keep busy. I have kept pretty much the same schedule of getting up and going to bed. I get up, the wife is still sleeping, I get stuff done.

There are a few downsides to retirement. 1st, you'll never get another vacation day. 2nd, no sick days either. 3rd, you never get any time off from being retired. :D

However, there are some positives. 1st, you'll never have to fight the crowds on the weekends if you don't want to as Tuesday and Wednesday are usually when I do errands. 2nd, you can choose to avoid rush hour traffic by leaving later. 3rd, it really doesn't matter what day it is anymore.

Also, I treat chores much like a work thing and start them at say 9am and stop for the day at about 1pm. There's no need to rush them and work all day cause you've got tomorrow and the next day to finish.

Also, give your wife retirement too. I keep away from her during the day so she can follow her own schedule and we get together for meals and evenings. That way she doesn't feel like she has to take care of you all day.
