OT - New Lew Horton S&W M27 REGISTERED MAGNUMS!

Post by jdad »

Now that I am "gun fund" poor.....2 special order rifles arriving later this week. :P I find something that goes to the top of the "want" list. What a neat 27 variation...5" barrel and 8-round cylinder. By the time I have the funds again these will probably be all gone. :(

Looks an awful lot like my Model 28, guess I should hold on to it.
See the price on that thing?

You could find a nice 5 screw pre-27 for a lot less money.

Like the one I got socked away... 8)

I picked up my 4" M28 for about 1/5th of that. Tis a shame.

I have a 28 too, but this 27 is set up for target shooting. I think there are only 500 being produced, of each configuration.

Value?!?! You get to fire 2 extra rounds before having to reload and you get a piece of paper. Those 2 pieces of "value" add $1000!

C'mon guys. I said it would be neat to own, not that I was crazy enough to buy it.

There's a big difference in fit and finish between the original 27s and 28s. I've had several 27s in different barrel lenghts and every one of them have shot circles around any other .357 i've ever owned including the Model 28.

However I agree that for the cost of these new ones you can easily bag an original Model 27, though not a Reg. Mag.

I have not owned an original Reg.Mag but I have held and fired one. In my opinion The Model 27 Registered Magnum was made during the height of quality craftmanship in this country.

The limited edition Lew Horton Horton stuff does hold it's value very well by and large.

Fortunately I bought my "real" one before the prices exceeded that. Thanks again to my wife for letting me buy my own birthday present.

I agree though. 8 shots is just wrong.

I really like the looks of the 3.5". Still don't like the safety.
