I bought a barrel for mine with sights, easier for me to get better hits. Which reminds me, I’ve not had it to the range for a while, need to correct that

No. It’s not a carry gun. It’s a house gun.

They appear to be Remington. Though they have tritium inserts. I actually bought the barrel with the sights installed. Probably a takeoff of a LE issued gun.

I have carried a 12-inch 870 at work since 1990 on a Remington 870 Witness Protection (a $5 tax stamp as an AOW). While Van Comp was in town bought some barrels from them and had them convert one for my wife to use when I was gone. Very good crowd pleasers when needed.

My AOW before Ceracote, which I carried at work to open doors and other things.

With sights it is useable. I was having difficulty with the shotgun bead on my other barrel.

My last issue shotgun was a 14 1/2" 870 with a Wilson +1 extension and TruGlo gobble dot. It would hold five but I kept it loaded with four 000 Buck so if needed, I could poke a slug in the mag, rack it and load another in the tube behind it. Drive-by stakeouts...

I have little need for such an implement these days, but the temptation to tax stamp a SBS is still pretty strong.

I still have my old Ithica Stakeout that I used in Houston. But it’s so light and kicks like a mule.

The Remington (with no tax stamp) is much more better.

I lowered the rear sight a bit and it ought to be dead on now

Now, not every buckshot patterns well.

I tried the Government issue buckshot from Olin. It won’t keep all of the pellets on the target consistently.

It’s great in an enclosed structure or as a truck gun. Just don’t count on any distance.
