From Victoria, Australia

Post by JimT »

Jacinta Allan
From @JacintaAllanMP

Machetes destroy lives – so we're taking them off the streets.

From 1 September, owning, carrying, using, buying, or selling a machete without a valid exemption or approval will be a criminal offence.
To allow people to safely dispose of them, there will be an amnesty period from 1 September to 30 November 2025.

More than 40 safe disposal bins will be available 24/7 at police stations across Victoria.
We're enacting this ban and boosting Victoria Police's powers because community safety always comes first.

Lesson: When they take the guns, they'll take the knives too. And if you don't follow the rules like a good citizen you'll be punished accordingly. And Jacinta Allen's government has given Victoria Police more power to search you.

Penalties
Up to 2 Years in prison or a fine of more than $47,000.00

Read about it here - https://www.vic.gov.au/machete-ban

I can just imagine what will be next....walking sticks, canes, frog gigs, fish spears, sharpened garden hoes and what damage could be done with a golf club or a base ball bat. archery is probably heavily regulated as well. what a shame these people get voted in office.

I knew a guy from Australia, he told me back in the 90s when they had the big firearm ban that a few weeks after the law took effect the criminals shot up a police station.
Yep bans work

Well, it appears that the US is the last sane English-speaking country... or rather, the last one that values individual liberty. Well, at least for the next few years...

Have no fear. It says this is a temporary ban!

It hasn't dawned on them that every car is a rather deadly weapon.

Im Australian by birth and moved back for an elderly relative. The above is correct, thats for just one of Australias states , Victoria, not the rest of the country. I'm not suprised by anything that goes on any more after watching the world lock down over a virus that is 3x less likely to kill someone than being over weight. If I could give some advice its dont sit by watching some other state go down. Even back in the states with Cali or NY rolling out controls. Write letters, donate, protest even for people on the other side of the country because divided you fall.
