.
It does make sense to 'score' in terms of places NOT to have pellets go, versus just hitting a target with potentially a pellet or two.

Pump shotguns are counter-intuitive to me (versus leverguns), and the pulling away that happens when you chamber a round is distracting, yet semiauto shotguns seem to need specific ammo to be reliable.

I have three shotguns:

1 - a breakopen that I use mostly - for treed chicken-eating pests, or just range play with clay targets.
2 - a pump that sits 'ready' - just because - that I do need to shoot and practice with WAY more (thus - thanks for posting this topic).
3 - a semiauto that I'd switch to someday if I get a couple cases of BB-shot or similar-sized defensive loads that are 100% functional in it.

I used to have a couple Striker shotguns (a folder and a plain one), but I sold them with the assistance of a Class-III dealer once they got 're-classified' as NFA items. I decided I'd rather have suppressors if I was going to have money and 'stamps' tied up in NFA type items. The Strikers were intimidating looking (which was the idea back when my wife was home alone in a rural area) and low-recoil due to heavy weight, but really not practical.

What I really would like is a belt-fed full-auto ten-gauge... :D
