That's great! Some of those names I know, some I don't. I've not had the pleasure to meet any of them however. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Jim. Boy, Phil's .458 really is ugly isn't it?

Re: Shootists Holiday 2025
Thanks, Jim. It's great to be able to put faces with familiar names.

It is ... and I would say it is his favorite. Much of the ugliness is just practical things done to it to make it more useful in very dangerous situations ... and done in the bush, far from gunsmiths. The forend can be held onto during recoil in very cold or in wet weather, for instance.Bill in Oregon wrote: ↑Thu Jun 19, 2025 6:18 am Thanks Jim. Boy, Phil's .458 really is ugly isn't it?![]()
He told me when he had to shoot that bear with his 9mm that he was sure wishing he had the ugly gun!

Jim, I believe the late Finn Aagaard appreciated Phil's rifle as well.

I had the opportunity to shoot that rifle and it feeds rounds from the magazine slicker than you would believe. It’s not uncomfortable to shoot as the stock is set up correctly.
