LBT Cast Bullets for Handguns

Post by Rimfire McNutjob »

I've been lamenting the demise of Montana Bullet Works and their wide range of LBT LFN and WFN bullets for handgun cartridges. I had not been able to find anyone making these other than Cast Performance who appear to be out of business since their acquisition by Grizzly Cartridge. They were the ones with the "clear lube" coated LBT style bullets.

Then, on a thread over on another forum a user posted about DoubleTap bullets. I was sure he meant ammo but no, they sell bullets. And they sell many LBT style bullets in 100 packs for 38, 40, 44, and 45. Below is an example ...

They appear to mostly be LBT WFNGC designs and in particularly heavy weights ... right in my strike zone. For example, they have WFNGC's in 335, 360, and 400 grains for the 45 Colt. Below is a link to their offerings at Grafs. I wasn't sure how common this knowledge was so I'm posting here in the Leverguns forum.

I had no idea MBW is gone.

Their site is still there, they just don't sell or ship anything that I know of. I think the owner was trying to sell it so that it continued on but I'm not sure that's worked out so far.

I've not tried any of his heavyweight offerings but I've been buying from Matt's for a few years and haven't had an issue with anything so far. His versions of the 454424 and 454423 have both shot well for me in .45's. In the .44 the 260 Keith style is good, and I see that he now offers that one in a "261 gr" sized to .432 as well. A good one for .357's is the "178 Keith" although it works best with brass trimmed back to 1.250".
