1876 win tang sight

Post by Walker »

Has anyone tried the 62B tang sight made for the 1873 on an 1876? I liked how the 62B folded flat on my 1873 src and would add it to my Crossfire Carbine if it worked.

Thanks,
Terry

Terry, about 25 years ago I made a tang sight for my 1873 Winchester, later on I obtained an original lyman that fit so took the homemade one off and stored it. About 10 years ago I got a decent 1876 Winchester and found the homemade sight that worked on the 1873 also worked good on the 1876, the angle the upright post makes with the tangs are the same on both guns. I have no personal experience with the 62B but assume if it fits an 1873 it should do okay with an 1876 (if the 62B has yardage markings they may not correlate though).
Here is the tang sight I made so I could hunt with the 1873/6:
