Three amigos were stealing barley and one charged me.
I fired from the hip and got center mass.
Jess killed one and the third escaped.
No one was on hand to form a posey.
I got lucky and felt very undergunned with the 17HMR. What could of happened fills me with dread!!
So today I decided to play safe and take the 30wcf loaded with subsonic spitzers and would you know it happened again! There I was on a maize field and out of no where a charging squirrel loomed into view!
Ok, I admit that I had gotten myself between said squirrel and a lone oak but with little time left I leveled the Winchester on the vicious attacker and fired. I missed but diverted the charge and up the tree it went.
Before it could pounce from above I drilled it with a head shot. Crisis over! Jess sealed the deal in the aftermath as I calmed myself down.
A little later I found a smart looking buck rabbit and made a successful head shot. Jess has got her favourite food for a couple of days. I also took a 200yd shot at a crow. Purley guessing the hold over of the lumbering subsonic bullet it landed very close at the birds feet! That would of been the shot of the year for me had a given a little more hold.
For an AE model with a little trigger work and rebound adjustment it's a fine rifle that makes for big grins
