World Famous Kentucky Bar, Juarez
Anyone been there recently? Heading to Juarez for a few hours today and have heard it is an iconic place to have decent chow and a very good margarita. Coyote Steakhouse next door is another option. Just looking to see the cathedral and the Museum of the Revolution in the Borderland.

Never heard of it Bill. I do miss the Dog Bar in Colorado. It was kind of an open air dive bar. The place had everything from Chihuahuas to Great Danes that would go table to table visiting. It was expressively VERBOTEN to feed them- you would get thrown out!
Of course some nitwit complained to the powers that be and they had to stop having the dogs on site. People suck!

There is not enough money in the world to pay me to go into Mexico in this day and time. Do yourself a favor and stay out of there. Someday in the future it might be ok, but not now. You're welcome!

I haven’t been to Juarez in a number of years. I left nothing there that I would go back for.

Been there twice while TDY to Holloman. Was a really neat place. But that was in the late 80's.

It was pretty tame. The Margarita at the Kentucky Club was very good. So was the Museum of the Revolution in the Borderland. And the Cathedral of Ciudad Juárez. I would go back again -- in daylight, but am in no hurry to do so. Dang I wish I had taken Spanish in high school instead of German.
By the way, the chaotic traffic behavior made an impression. Near the intersection of Avenida Benito Juarez and C. 16 de Septiembre, a father and three boys were crossing the street. The 7-year-old lagged two steps behind and was nearly hit by a guy going 35, laying on his horn and glaring at the boy with dagger eyes. He did not slow down and probably came with 18 inches of him.

Looks like a good trip Bill! Despite being 90 minutes away, haven't been there since the 90s, been off limits for USAF personnel for about 2 decades now. Hear it is a lot safer than it was 10 years ago.

Must be why it's only in the news once or twice a week instead of every day!

I worked in El Paso 2 days per week back in the middle 80s. One time, my boss met me in El Paso and we took a bus into downtown Juarez. When it was beginning to get dark we searched for a bus ride back to El Paso but were told the buses stopped running at 6 PM. I don't know how far we walked in our business suits that evening but we didn't get back to the hotel until 1 AM. I wouldn't do that again.
