I'm not, my Dad was a member but when aarp endorsed odumbo he cancelled his subscription. I believe they lean left of center if that means anything.

They monetarily support anti gun groups. We're members of AMAC, it's the conservative version of AARP.

AARP is just a shill to sell insurance. (There, I said it!)

That said, I'm told that their Medicare supplemental insurance isn't a bad value.

Almost impossible to get off of their mailing list. I finally had
to call member services - even though I've never been a member - to get that done.

YMMV.

They keep sending me stuff too (I turn 61 in May). I will NEVER join them, no matter how much I could supposedly save. I've send their flyers back with a terse message explaining why I will never join their pathetic anti-gun/anti-freedom racket, and where they can stick their flyer. Yet the keep sending them.

When the time comes I'll join AMAC if it makes sense.

If I get lots of junk mail that send postage paid return envelopes I take junk mail from another company and vice versa then send it back. I get rid of junk mail and annoy those companies that just don't take NO for an answer. Just be sure your name isn't on anything!

I took a more proactive method to get off their mailing list... I took every bit of junk mail I received over a few days, put it in their pre-paid return envelope along with their application with NOT INTERESTED IN YOUR JUNK MAIL EITHER, in black magic marker and mailed it off. Yes, I put my name & address on the return envelop. Haven't heard a word from them since, nearly 22 years now. I've thought about sending Progressive Ins an application to join our gun club in their return envelope... with a note that sez, I'll quit sending you my application if you quit sending me yours.

What I call get to stop is junk mail from Neptune Society. Several times a week. Scares me to think they may go further to drum up business than junk mail.
