Since I last posted I have struck out in the home finding search. Rental prices are out of sight for someone on Social Sec. And even a "low cost house of $600 or so wont allow me to qualify because I have to make 3X the rent in income. Not gonna happen on Social Sec.
I'm working on subsidized housing now, but I'm not gonna hold my breath.

I have a week plus 9 days to vacate this place and nowhere to go.

I'd even rent a truck and pack up what little I'm gonna keep if I had a place to go somewhere else. But alas, no such luck.

My biggest problem is physical, I do not have the strength or stamina I used to have, so packing is a waste of time without a place to go. Besides, most of my stuff is already packed from 10 years ago. Just need load it up, most of it anyway.

Gonna break down a buy a cell phone, but for now my land line and the PM system here is all there is to reach me.

So I'll be checking in here every day like always, but if I suddenly don't show up anymore .......

Joe, I am very heartily sorry you find yourself in this fix and pray a solution offers itself that allows you to preserve health and dignity.
I understand your dilemma, trying to find a place I can afford here in the desert. A gunsmith friend up in Davenport and I were chatting a few days ago and this topic came up. He said, Bill, come up here to Iowa. Your housing dollar goes a long way. Or better yet, look in the coal country of West Virginia where the mines have closed. Not quite ready to do that yet.
A cell phone is your friend when you need an open communication line with the world, believe me.
Keep the faith. Surely there is a place meant for you on God's earth.
