I hate it, but it’s probably not worth taking a chance.
Easter Sunday is symbolic and will be celebrated by both the Eastern and Western churches on the same day this year.
I pray that nobody takes advantage of this to target people of faith.
I’m tempted to go unarmed, but that’s not probably a good idea.

I wouldn't and don't and did not.

I never take that chance. I feel like the potential for evil is even higher on days like today.

Since we no longer have any sort of church service security (the diocese banned groups like ours) we have to decide for ourselves whether violating the "rules" is worth it. And in accordance with the issued policy, none of us ever talks to another about what we might do if...

I’m hoping that you have a peaceful day but like the commercial used to say, “Never leave home without it”.

Hey Fellers, I hate it too but I always remind myself of another prayer that I have on my wall in my shop. Please Lord, do not let my last thought be..."if only I had my gun".... John

I attend the same church that JM Browning did. Lately, the church has discouraged firearms on church property as a soft worldwide policy. I pull into the parking lot and back into my normal paring spot. Right next to one of the clergy. My 22-250 in the back window (357 in the glove box, 45 under the seat). His 220 swift tucked between the front seats. Next truck over has 22-250 tucked between the front seats. Friend of mine a couple trucks over has his 300 PRC in the back seat. A sweet little lady has a 380 in her purse. She even got permission to do so.
Makes me chuckle. At least a half a dozen CCWs in the congregation that I know of.
More than one gun show has taken place after church in the parking lot. I do love living in America. I just wish we could better appreciate John Browning...

.
I assume God gave me free will and the ability to defend myself in order that I take care of THAT as best I can (which means to CCW ALL the time); that frees Him up for earthquakes and tornados and other stuff I can't control. I've never seen any virtue in going unarmed, although some of my friends evidently feel that doing so somehow demonstrates their faith in God. I have faith in God alright, and He deals with all the big stuff very well, but it would be blasphemous for me not to help Him out when I can, not just for my sake, but for the potential protection of any innocent lives for whatever reason.

I recommend this book ..
Shooting Back: The Right and Duty of Self-defense Paperback – by Charl Van Wyk
Charl lives in Cape Town, South Africa. He was in church when it was attacked by gunmen with AK47's and grenades and who killed and wounded a number of people. Charl was the only armed person in the church and he fired back and drove the attackers off. The book is written from the perspective of a christian. As such I especially recommend it for those who attend religious services and who wonder about such things ... pastors, priests, rabbis etc.

I attend a Bible Study each Sunday morning in a very non-permissive environment. I carry my everyday carry gun there and don’t ever worry about it.
However we were invited to a regular church service on Sunday and I generally stay shy of organized religion. A different environment to be sure.

I had my Blackhawk like always. We visited another church for Easter. Our church had a sunrise service, but the baby kept us up most of the night, so we ended up going to a service at 11:00.
I do really enjoy wednesday night bible study.

I don't go to the restroom unarmed . Mine goes on when my feet hit the floor in the morning and comes off when I undress for bed. My wife does not like me coming to bed wearing my gun.

I am grateful that Passover and Easter were peaceful, this year. The Jewish Passover lasts about a week, so was still in progress when the two major Easters were celebrated.

Re: I hate it, but it’s probably not worth taking a chance.
As many of you know, I run my church's safety team. We generally refer to Christmas and Easter as our "super bowls", given the crowds. Lots of "Chris-Easter Catholics" (those who only attend Christmas and Easter), lots of guests, even non-Catholic Christians just looking for a beautiful service - all are welcome. Between Holy Thursday and the last Mass on Easter Sunday we had 6,500 people attend.
Everyone through safely, no major security incidents, and not major medical incidents. People got to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and Savior in peace. Few things get better than that!

Re: I hate it, but it’s probably not worth taking a chance.
BTW, I was just watching the funeral of Pope Francis. I can't help but look at the security arrangements. With 50+ world leaders attending, and almost all of the Roman Catholic church's leaders, plus leaders of other Christian churches, all I could think was that I hope everyone is on their toes. Too tempting a target for extremists out there...
Re: I hate it, but it’s probably not worth taking a chance.
I have a good friend who was in Sudan when the war between North and South Sudan was warming up .... about 20 years ago. He was visiting a Church and as they came up to it he noted a "slit trench" not too far from the building, and outside the front door was a rack with AK47's hanging on it and a guard standing by. Inside almost all the men had an AK and a Bible on their laps. He got some photos of it. The trench was for the people if planes came in to bomb the Church, which had been happening. The rack of guns outside was for those who did not want to take them in and I believe some of those were ladies who were taking care of kids inside.
Later, talking with the Pastor he said, "I won't be able to show these photos to most Churches in the West." The Pastor asked why and he told him, "They don't like guns in the Church and many won't allow it." The Pastor was astonished and asked, "How can they be Christians if they won't defend their families?
If you study the early days of America before the Revolution, in many places you would be fined if you did not carry your rifle when you took your family to Church.
