9.6 inches of rain in 3 hours....

Post by AJMD429 »

.
We had that around 2011 (just within a few mile radius of our home), and then again in 2012 (covered 100 mile radius and flooded several cities and a hospital).

They said it was a "hundred-year flood"

Now they are warning of a "thousand-year flood" - of course maybe just media hype, but for those in the Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, and Illinois area, it might be something to watch out for.

No doubt if it happens, it will be Trump's fault... or Elon Musk's...

Stay safe friends! Down here, a hundredth of an inch makes the news this time of year -- seriously.

We have had a couple inches over the last few days from two different systems. I started a 30 day medical leave on Tuesday and won't have to deal with all the flooded basements.
The leave is mainly due to some nasty side effects from a new medication that should fade away in about 30 days. I'm also looking for a new ins. co. to work for. Corporate takes great care of it's people but mid and lower management is are some of the worst I have ever come across. The job I left, I had the best manager I've ever had and told him that. This little Napoleon I work for now is just part of a chain of rotten people.
Sorry for the rant, but the weather patterns for the last couple of years is ALMOST making me wish I was still a contractor. Almost.

Buddy of mine bought a colonial era house, it's supposedly in the 50 year flood plane. The first year he was there he was flooded 2 or 3 times!
My rule of thumb is to follow the groundhog, you won't see them dig a burrow in a flood plane.
