Thought for the day

Post by Bill in Oregon »

Fred never led anyone wrong and was a friend to all, especially the little ones, God rest his soul.

"It's not the honors and prizes of life which ultimately nourish our souls. It's the knowing that we can be trusted, that we never have to fear the truth, that the bedrock of our very being is good stuff."
The Rev. Fred "Mister" Rogers, born this day in 1928

Never knew he was a Reverend. That's one thing that's certain. Every day you can learn something new, if you want to. I can't imagine a day without something new to look forward to.

Way back when my son was overseas serving in uncle barry's yacht club, I would carry any mail we received to be forwarded to my daughter in law residing with her mom. When they answered the door I would cheerfully say, "mister mcfeely speedy delivery !" in respect to mister (Rev.) Fred and the mailman character. They were clueless ! They had never seen or even heard of the show or the man. Of course they looked it up on their phones and eventually binge watched some episodes for the little one's sake.
