Weekend Trip to the Whittington Center

Post by High Desert Hunter »

85 days until I hit the Whittington Center for another shot at the white buffalo with my Shiloh. Been a long winter, and life's had a bunch of ups and downs, so I am trying to live a little!

I lived in Trinidad CO, just a quick trip from Whittington. We would go down once in awhile and shoot.
If you are in the area during the week and have time go up to the college and take a tour of the gunsmith program.

I'll have to add that to my next trip! I'm about 4.5 hours South of the Whittington Center.

Gunny that sounds awesome!

Walt, thanks! Hoping it's not too awfully windy tomorrow for a practice session at 400 on my local range. Going to order a new BACO mould to see if I can get a bit more reliability at the longer ranges with the 45/70.

I like your plan HDH! I am 5 1/2 hours south of the Whittington, in Cruces. Makes me pine to have a Sharps in the house again. Ringing that white buffalo is a mighty worthy goal in my book. 8)

I did it with my .30-30 some years ago. Quite a bit of luck involved. One hit out of 70 rounds ...

I remember that story Jim. I am hoping to best my 3 out of 30. Bill I'm just over the hill from you in Alamogordo. One of these days I need to take a trip over to the Butterfield Range.

Local kid John McGlothlin (Spelling?) graduated from the gunsmith school in or about 1995. My son also was on the baseball team during that same time frame.
