JOHN TAFFIN
Left this world about 8:50 PM March 10, 2025 in Boise, ID.
He is now with our Lord Jesus and those who have gone before. I imagine a great home-coming celebration is happening.
I will miss him, but I do not feel sorry for him. I feel sorry for us who have to get along without him here, and for his wife and family who now have a huge hole that cannot be filled.

A huge influence on my life as a shooter and gun owner. I will miss his writing but I am grateful for the vast catalog he has left for us.

Feel like I need some sort of .44 wheel gun in John’s honor. Well done, sir.

Travel well John. Godspeed. Thanks for making our world a better place. You taught us so much. Heal well, all who mourn his passing.

Re: JOHN TAFFIN
John and Dot Taffin were kind and hospitable to me over the years. I really enjoyed getting to know him a bit in person as well as via the written word. I've missed his replies to our newsletter over the past several months. ONE COULD COUNT ON A BRIEF, TO THE POINT REPLY IN HIS TYPICAL STYLE. May God comfort Dot and their family during this time of adjustment.
Hey, brother Taffin! Keep a pot on the fire. We'll be along directly!

Re: JOHN TAFFIN
The world is certainly diminished with his passing, but what a full life he lived, and how many of us he touched with his writing. I should have written this all in CAPS, as every reply I received from him was written that way.
Re: JOHN TAFFIN
Jim , What thread was the picture of John when he was presented the Lipsey Ruger?
Really enjoyed his writings , he will be missed .

Another of the great ones. Unfortunately I never got to meet him in person, but luckily did get to correspond with him a few times. RIP John.

Re: JOHN TAFFIN
Gents. I already knew this, and I sincerely hope I'm not offending any of the senior members here, but Ms. Dot has had her own health issues for a number of years, and it was John who was taking care of her I believe. So while I have reason to know he had plans for her further care if he departed first, nothing could prepare Ms. Dot for his absence.
So while I'm a nobody, and I never spoke or wrote to the man ever, he was not present when I was there in 2009 due to the elevation causing him heart trouble, but I worry a lot about Ms. Dot after loosing the love of her life.
We all have heard of it, or seen it first hand, but such heart break after so many decades of marriage is extremely hard to bear in even a healthy person, much less someone fragile in their own health. So please offer Ms. Dot the strength to persevere or if not, pray for her and her family. You guys can read between the lines.
I believe Jim Taylor and John Taffin were part of the original Shootists group. I don't expect the rest of them to be public about their loss, but I can assure you, they feel it even more heavily than we do. John Taffin was a founding member, and at the heart of everything that group became.
So I correct myself, and I pray for all of them too in their time of suffering from the loss of a very dear, iconic, fundamental old friend.
Hoping I have not stepped on any toes here, I believe I know a guy who can describe John's contribution to the Shootist group, yet again, if he chooses too.
-Humbly and with prayers for the family, but also prayers of simple "thank you John" for a life well lived, for the elevation of his soul and a heartfelt "thank you" for his many, many contributions to all of us. This really sucks.

I was sad to hear of it, but I can't help to be excited for him as he's in the presence of God Almighty! What a reunion that day will be!

Go ahead please. You don't need my permission. I know John was and is well respected by a multitude of people across a few generations.

Sad news... condolences to his friends and family.
