Thanks for sharing that - I can't believe how complex that design and mechanism is - and it evidently worked reasonably well.
Reminds me of the Antikythera astronomical device.
I've heard the Browning BLR's are difficult to disassemble and reassenble and get 'timed' right due to the gears, but at least the modern BLR's are probably pretty good with parts interchangeability - I'll bet the Kalthoff rifles were pretty much individually parts-fitted throughout.
A big thanks due to the guy who let Ian not only 'fondle' his 375 year old rifle, but DISASSEMBLE it as well...
Ian has established a top-notch reputation though.

The sophisticated design and execution of that design is amazing. And when you look at the time period - WOW! Many people today have NO idea how much can be done with "primitive tools". Thanks for sharing that with us.
