It gets better fast, first week after is a little rough....do the PT, and as much stretching as you can at home, the swelling will restrict that but you have to push through.I had bilateral knees done 2 years ago, if you have any questions don't hesitate.

We just got a letter that said fentanyl was being moved to Schedule 1, which means it will no longer be available as a prescribed/administered medication. I guess that's due to the illicit derivatives being imported. Not sure how that's going to affect surgical patients, as it is a useful medication in some limited circumstances.

You have my full sympathy, Rossi. Post-surgical pain can sometimes be so severe that you wonder if you are meant to survive it. Had abdominal surgery three weeks ago today. The first 24-48 hours were surprisingly brutal although with four previous spinal surgeries this was not my first rodeo. I thought there had been some mistake. Every time I have been prescribed post-op PT, more than half the patients there had just had knee replacements -- and they DID get better. Keep hope alive.

Coming up on 10 years since I had both knees replaced (fortunately not at the same time!). First days brutal, first couple weeks nasty, then got better as PT got the flexibility back. About 3 years before they got fully functional (they didn't warn me about that). Wonderful now!

Hang in there.

Had both hips and both knees done at the same time 5 years apart, so I'm an expert!, lol
first week is tough, but do the therapy, take the pain pills, at least for the first week and PT days, do extra PT at home and ice after every session....you'll be surprised how quick it gets better, after my knees, I was cleared to go to work in 7 weeks, and I work commercially on a boat.
DO THE THERAPY! A LOT, lol

my pain level after postop dropped to 2. pt were shocked. doesn't mean it won't shoot up during and after therapy.

I had my knee replaced almost 8 years ago. The one thing I can add to the above advice is to take your pain killer (mine was Oxy/Tylenol) 30 minutes before PT.

just let her know, fair warning, when she first wakes, that where your knee feels like its been ran over by a train. pain medicine should settle it down in an hour. they use a robot machine here to install the implant. the nurse and pt said i had the good doctor. he' s mild mannered, even toned, and all business.

My wife had her left knee done on Jan. 8th and she's back to walking without aid, all-be-it slowly but still walking around the house. She was told that the first 6 weeks are the toughest and her secret to her success was to religiously do the exercises, no matter the pain, as they laid them out for her, ice the knee regularly, and keep it pushing the flexing to avoid it stiffening up. We also have a exercycle that she's started using and can almost do a full cycle with. She's been a real trooper and the PT she's been going to each week is impressed with her progress.

stay positive, do all the P.T, dont over eat or over drink. All the fastest comebacks I saw made in the army, and this included vertebra injuries it was the fellas who stayed active and kept close to the original weight or even lost weight that did the best. It was like night and day. Even guys who couldnt move around yet squeezing a tennis ball a couple sessions a day while they lay there. Releases all sorts of good repair hormones into the system. Should be more written about it, but I guess pharma companies cant make money outta basic exercise,.
