Raising a glass...
It's been 44 years since my Dad died, on this day in 1981. Next year he'll have been gone as long as he was here on earth. I've outlived him by 15 years so far.
I miss you Dad. I'll be raising a glass to him after this last meeting of the day (at 7:00pm local time).

Well, I'll join you in that toast Jay -- to your Dad, to mine, and to all the others who have passed on before us but made us better men.
Cheers.

I'll join in the toast to your dads, gentleman. I'm fortunate to still have my father. He will be 87 in July.

It’s important to honor our fathers and mothers. I’m so blessed to have a father who worked so hard and gave me the example of how to live.

My pop died on my 59th birthday, 13 years ago. An Eagle Scout, a devoted Christian, a combat veteran in World War II. I'm not half the man he was -- and I miss him.

Mine died when I was 4 years old. He was only 42, and he's been gone longer than he lived. I wish every day both him and my mom were still here.

I missed this yesterday, but my thoughts are with you. It had to have been difficult to lose him at that age, though I doubt any age is easy when losing a parent. I'm fortunate enough to still have my dad at 83, but he's been having health problems for the last year or so. Lost my mom seven years ago, and it's still difficult to think about too much. I still haver her little dog, Bandit. I think he misses her too. He'll spend hours on her old recliner I have in my living room and keeping an eye on us.
Best wishes, Amigo!

Gone too soon. I get where you're coming from. The only time I know my dad lied to me was when he said "The best thing about turning 50 is you know you won't die young." He turned 50 three months before the Lord called him home. The weird thing is knowing that I'm "older than my own dad", seeing how I've outlived him by nearly a decade now.

Toasting as well . My father died last year but I wasnt told until a month after, we had only met three times in our lives. My grandfather though I was very close to, he died at age 100 September last year.
