Savage has a new lever rimfire also. Once they hit the store I will need to take a closer look at both of them.

I've been waiting to see one of these (the Winchester) in real life. MidwayUSA is taking orders but says "Stock overdue".

Debuted in 2024 and they simply dropped the ball with NO explanation. Gun shops had them on order for over a year. And last report summer of 25 at earliest. For a Turkish import .

My guess they threw it out there to test demand and has taken over a year to set up production.

Receiver frame is billet aluminum , chrome moly barrel

Local shop has one of the Savage rifles. Price isn't bad and some of the nicest walnut stocks I've seen in a long time but up close, it's a thoroughly unattractive rifle. Really ugly, like your best friend's fat sister. Just don't want it around!

is it THAT UGLY?

i like the straight stock. i don't like the lever. i love the 22 mag that's coming online, they say.....

although i would prefer a pump action 22 mag at that price . . .

That picture is quite deceiving. the lines of the receiver look like it was designed by someone on heavy medication.
When you have the chance to handle one in person, you will see what I'm talking about.
Other than the nice walnut, it does have an incredibly smooth action. I just couldn't get past the looks of it. I'm sure there are others that will form their own opinion.

Would it kill them to chamber the 17 WSM?

I was hopeful for the rebirth of the 9422 in both 22 LR and 22 Magnum, but that's probably not going to happen now. Ruger/Marlin is supposed to be reintroducing the Model 39 but their centerfire leverguns are getting the priority as far as production is concerned.

Neither does much for me but the location of the cross bolt safety on the savage is interesting. I'd like to see one taken apart.
