my new generator of 34 years gave up the ghost. i gave it to my son because i can't lug it around much anymore with bad knees, he needed one big enough to run his welder. it started on first pull . only problem is it has a mouse nest in generator and wont spit power. . so my next neighbor gave him his old one, runs good, just trips breaker when plugs his welder in. ( his buddy checking that out for him) and its a 13,000 running watt gen. i was looking at new inverter generator rated at 28oo running watts. wanted one to be portable for camping, (quiet too). daaang $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ .34 years made a difference. wanted to buy from a dealer brand name make. $$$$$$$$$$$$$ settled on a wen from amazon 3000 watt surge with 2600 wattt running. just need one for heater and fridge when power goes out. free shipping at 460.00 bucks . see how it goes , site says it american owned company but is made in china according to company standards. see how that goes. i noticed a lot of products are american companies but made in china. comes with an amazon 30 day return. we will see. wanted a honda one, but dang man, $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ , i aint;t cheap but, like i need to eat also. used units on fb bring almost what new one goes for. sorry for the long rant.

I'm trying to revive a never-yet-run auto-start standby 'whole house' generator, and I found out that:
1) like many things, the not many places are ready/willing to troubleshoot unless they get to do the install, or a maintenance contract.
2) but if you give up and just get a new one - they have gotten VERY expensive...!
Fortunately I think we finally found a local guy who knows his stuff and sounds very ethical.
