Interesting... my buffalo shootin' group will be shooting the little guns on out to 300 yards this coming year (we had been just going to 200 but thought we needed to shake things up a bit). Might try some of the higher velocity stuff just for grins. At the closer ranges the CCI standard velocity has been best in my old musket while the little Henry lever had liked CCI mini-mags.

I hadn't seen that CCI Velocitor -- sounds like it has a couple hundred more fps than the mini-mags we get easily in these parts.

Single shot or lever. Iron sights which are mostly tang or receiver sights. We are going to try a 100, 150, 200, 300 yard deal this coming year. Close target off-hand and then the others off sticks. This will be for our traditional Sunday shoot with 22, quarter bore, pistol caliber lever. I am right at the top of my adjustment on the old martini-action 22 using CCI standard velocity at 300 yards. So those "velocitors" might look kinda' good to me if I could find some.

Pretty sure I have some Velocitors in the box of .22 ammo. Haven't seen them for a while, but haven't really looked.

This was also interesting - https://youtu.be/LOHvOX8AYEw - the section on barrel-length and movement/accuracy was new to me; I didn't realize the bullet exited the barrel that fast, but the math makes sense. The negative effect of adding a suppressor due to rapid addition of crud, and the resultant change in harmonics, was also interesting.

My two most accurate rimfires seem to be a bolt action bull-barrel Ruger 77/22 and a lever action pencil barrel in 17 HMR, and next in line would be another 77/22 with a regular factory slender barrel. I glass-bedded a 10/22 with a low-end 'match' aftermarket barrel but it really didn't out perform the othres.
Probably the weakest link is ME, and next in line the fact that I don't often buy 'match' ammo either...

More long-range 22 LR (450 yards) - using CCI standard velocity ammo and high power scopes with lots of MOA adjustment, on bolt-action chassis rifle setups.

This couple are both good shots, especially given the major amount of wind at the time...!

I mounted a Williams receiver sight on my customized H001 and play with it out at 200 yds mostly but have gone as far as to 300 yds. While elevation control is not that hard, those little 36 - 40 grn bullets are hammered by any wind drift and I've had slight gusts push the bullet 2 ft to the side at 200 yds.

That means you've got to be prepared for groups measured in feet if it's breezy or just shoot it in dead calm conditions. I've chosen the latter and when it's calm it's a ton of fun to lob a .22lr that far.
