They are still flying, a buddy of mine sees at least one a night. just the 'news ' is no longer covering it.

Perhaps someone actually did some looking into the overnight appearance of drones in the world,..and realized they were very common and used by a lot of various people and legit agencies for a bunch of reasons, and if LE, the .mil or contractors were using or testing things they didnt want the mindless news drones blabbing about it to the world?

Common sense ( we know our gubbermint doesn't) says if it's our military or LE they would have come out and let the public know. That didn't happen so I still say these are nefarious. Which explains why they were spending lots of time over reservoirs, Trump's golf course, water treatment plants, etc.
Is it ICE looking for ileags?- I doubt it. A foreign entity gets my vote. Since all the talk of shooting them down they are no longer flying a couple hundred feet and now a thousand or more.
Of course things settled down once the FAA put out a TFR, Temporary Flight Restrictions over the area.

I keep looking and haven't seen one yet. Strongly suspect that most are simply misidentified aircraft caused by mass hysteria. Then again I'm pretty sure most conspiracy theories are caused by very bored people with nothing better to do.

I would suggest common sense is they would not be giving away sensitive information about what they are doing, whether surveillance or even testing new tech in a variety of environments. If a small percentage are nefarious, Im certain they wouldnt be giving up any info on what they are doing, They are likely more interested in seeing what the nefarious actors are doing.

Temp restrictions may be either/or/both thinning out the hobbyists that are no doubt muddying the waters, and succumbing to the frenzy "We have to DO something!!" nonsense. In that case, its feel good actions. Any general restrictions are likely to have exceptions for LE and other emergency or high priority users.

I believe the standard drone flight restrictions are 400 ft above ground level to lessen potential issues with manned aircraft.
